10 degrees, 30K NW wind. It was a breezy day, so I decided to add some hills to my ride. You can usually benefit from a little shelter going uphill into a headwind, and a tailwind will help push you uphill on the way back. The thermometer said 10, but it felt cooler than that, so I added a couple of extra layers. I should have believed the thermometer. Within 30 minutes I was sweating profusely, and after 45 minutes I was wet and cold. This is a case where less is more, in that if I wore less clothes I would have been more comfortable.

14 degrees, 20-30K NNW wind. I headed north, counting on a tailwind to help me get home. It was tough heading out, and the temperature dropped steadily as I neared the north shore. There was a considerable increase in speed as I turned back towards the south. I have to remember to drink more while on the bike. I rarely feel thirsty in cool temperatures, but weighing myself before and after the ride indicated I lost a couple of pounds, and likely not fat.

15 degrees, 10-15K SSW wind. Again the forecast and scheduling have put me in a position of doing back to back days of riding. The forecast for Saturday is rain and wind, so I managed to get a ride in today. Sunny, with light winds, I did a mostly flat ride with just a wee bit of climbing. Great day to be on a bike! I’m still pretty slow on the hills, but I’ll start working on that next week.
